Conflicts within the religion, and between the religions, have occurred on numerous occasions. At present, most conflicts in the world are religion based. Religions of South Asia can be divided into two categories - those that are indigenous, such as Hinduism and those that are imported, such as Islam. Over a period of time both the indigenous and the imported religions have attained a permanent status in the sub-continent, therefore both the categories are briefly covered.
