A poor boy, hungry and weak, knocks on a door to ask for food. A young woman answers and, instead of giving him a meal, offers him a bowl of milk. Grateful, the boy thanks her deeply. Years later, the woman falls seriously ill and is treated by a skilled doctor. When the bill arrives, she is surprised to find it paid in full—with a note saying: "Paid in full with one bowl of milk." The doctor was the same boy she had helped years ago, now grown up and successful.
