Summary: This is the first book in a PSE course for pupils of all abilities at Key Stages 3 and 4. The series is designed for use on a year-by-year basis, with Book 1 corresponding to Year 7, but the structure is flexible enough to allow teachers to use the sections selectively. Each of the pupils' books contains at least three units on each of the themes which the NCC has identified as "essential parts of the whole curriculum" - economic and industrial understanding, careers education and guidance (including self-awareness), health education, education for citizenship and environmental education. The activities involve the use of all the cross-curricular skills - communication, numeracy, study skills, problem-solving, personal and social skills, and information technology. A book of teacher resources containing 20 photocopiable questionnaires, activities, further information and stimulus material, is available to accompany each pupils' book.
